Today, 28th of May, 19 cabinet ministers including 3 ex-chief ministers and other former ministers have joined the team of Prime Minister, Mr. Manmohan Singh.
The second round of induction of the Prime Minister's council of ministers began exactly at 11.30 AM today with President Prathiba Patil giving them the oath of office at the Ashoka Hall in the Presidential Palace.
Mamta Baneerjee - Trinamool Congress Leader, C.P.Joshi - Rajasthan Congress Unit President, Veerappa Moily - Congress General secretary, S.M.Krishna - former chief Minister of Karnataka are a few of the new entrants. The others who took oath were Congress' M.S. Gill, G.K. Vasan, Pawan Kumar Bansal, Mukul Wasnik, Kantilal Bhuria, Kumari Selja and DMK's M.K. Azhagiri. This included DMK's Nominees - M.K. Azhagiri, Dayanidhi Maran, A.Raja.
The Union Council of Ministers is now expanded with the induction of 59 Ministers. The portfolios for the Ministers have not been decided yet. But it is widely expected that S.M. Krishna would serve as the industry minister and Kamal Nath would be the next foreign minister. Pranab Mukherjee the former defence minister would serve the Finance department, the portfolio he took up 25 yrs back. Chidambaram is expected to be the Home minister. Antony to take up Defence.
