National Science Day- Raman's Noble Feat

Every year India celebrates National Science Day on February 28. On this day in 1928, Sir C.V. Raman announced his discovery of the 'Raman Effect'. At the Nobel Prize award ceremony, C.V. Raman used alcohol as the medium to demonstrate the Raman effect. At a get-together in the evening, Raman was offered an alcoholic drink. He politely declined it and declared:"You can see the Raman effect on alcohol, but not the alcohol effect on Raman!". He was such a spontaneous and humorous person. C.V. Raman was fascinated by diamonds and spent most of the Nobel Prize money in procuring them for research. The government honoured him with the Bharath Ratna in 1954. He remained active till his death on November 21, 1970 at the age of 82.

Delhi 6 - A Review

"Delhi-6" is seen through the eyes of Roshan(played by Abhishek), an NRI whose first visit to India along with his grandma, changes his entire life. The first half is pretty long and has very little plot but it establishes Delhi and its people in the right sense. The strongest point in the movie is music. A.R. Rahman's score is astounding and rightly depicts the zeal and spirit of Delhi. But the director Rakyesh Mehra could have used the music a lot better. Photography is of high quality. Sonam Kapoor is gorgeous and does a good job. Entire blame is on the screenplay and Rakyesh Mehra for stretching the message beyond necessity. We get the point early on, but Mehra's screenplay laboriously belabours the point.
'Delhi 6' is a film that holds a mirror to the society we live in, but it lacks subtlety and the truth is what you see in the movie is what you already know. Delhi 6 is a movie that has the heart, but its script is too loose and as a result the film ends up as a disappointment. Anyways it is an honest effort.

Vennila Kabadi kuzhu:
This movie is an unexpected hit. The movie has no glamour or blooded action and hence is a hit among the family audience. The humour, kabbadi sequences and soft love sequence have attracted the youth. Though the entire team is full of new faces, their hardwork has paid them. Click here to download mp3 songs of Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu

Siva Manasula Sakthi(SMS):
This movie was well advertised and publicised before release. Also the music scored by yuvan was a super hit, which was an additional plus. Tracks like "Oru Kal" sung by Yuvan and "MGR illeenge.." are ringing in every fm stations throughout tamilnadu. The movie has also entertained the audience with its racy screenplay and non-stop humour. Jeeva and Santhanam pair has clicked well. The movie promises thorough entertainment to all types of audience. Click here to download mp3 songs of Siva Manasula Sakthi.

Naan Kadavul:
This Bala movie which took more than 2 years for completion had a lot of expectations among the audience. Bala has definitely met the expectations that people have for his kind of movie. Initially, some rumours like scenes of Arya eating the flesh of pooja (actually not in movie) , etc., tried to lower the popularity of the movie. But it couldn't. The excellent background score by Illayaraja is a plus. The movie depicts more about the life and struggle of beggars under their owners. This movie is really worth National Awards. We expect national award for either Arya or Pooja or Bala or all the three. It is definitely a must-watch movie. Click here to download mp3 songs of Naan Kadavul

Police and Lawyers clash at Chennai High Court

The keepers of Law (i.e. Lawyers) and the keepers of security in the state (i.e. Police) must go on a single track to maintain law and order in the state. But in Tamilnadu, for the past few months, they have been against each other like cat and rat. This unhealthy situation has become so worse that, the police have latti charged(hit) the lawyers when they protested for the Srilankan Tamil Eelam issue recently at the Chennai High Court premises. Previously, when the law college students were brutally hit by some gangsters, the police just watched the scene instead of trying to rescue the victims, which brought a bad impression on the them, not only among the lawyers, but also among the people of Tamilnadu. Now, in this incident where the lawyers of Chennai high court were brutally hit by the police, many lawyers were badly wounded and admitted in the hospital. These incidents have not only lowered the trust on Police but also brought disrespect to Police among the people of Tamilnadu. This is the question that lies in the heart of every citizen of Tamilnadu about the state police- "They either dont do their duty or do it wrong. When will they do it right??? ".

A.R. Rahman's Answer to the criticisms on 'Slumdog Millionaire'

Recently in a press meet, when A.R. Rahman was asked as how he took the criticisms on his 'Golden Globe' Winner Slumdog Millionaire, he said that he just ignored those comments and criticisms. He added that these criticisms are not healthy and constructive. He said that, those who criticise Slumdog for having shown darker and poorer regions of India, forget to watch the movie closely as how it has shown the development of mumbai slums into richer place. Also he said that, if those critics want to show and portray a beautiful Mumbai can take a movie depicting the richness of Mumbai and India.

Slumdog Millionaire has brought A.R. Rahman a BAFTA award (British Academy for Film and Telivision Awards). This is an indication for a forthcoming OSCAR award to this musical genius for this movie. Lets see...

General Strike all over Tamil Nadu on 05th Feb- A Review

05th Feb was called for a general strike by most of the Political parties and Unions to show the opposition against Sri Lanka's brutal act against Tamil Civilians and to force the Indian and Tamil nadu government to take necessary actions to stop this. It was expected that all shops would be closed and autos would not run and people could not carry on their normal life. School children were very happy that they would get a day's leave.
But nothing happened. Public buses and autos ran. Schools were open, and students' dream for a holiday ended in vain. Almost all shops were open and gained more than usual, as other shops were closed. Chennai traffic was heavy as usual. Might be the strike would have been a success if it was called by the ruling party..
Is the Sri Lankan Tamil issue POLITICISED or Do We really care for our poor suffering Tamilhoods in Sri Lanka.....

Slumdog Millionaire dubbed in TAMIL

Slumdog MIllionaire which was planned to be remade in Tamil is now being dubbed in Tamil and scheduled to be released on 14th February. May be the opposition and blames on the movie by some Indian cine giants have stopped the producers from remaking it.

Actor Simbhu has given voice for the lead role, SP. Balasubramaniyam for Anil Kapoor, and 'Nizhalgal' Ravi for Irfan Khan. The movie is releasing on 14th Feb titled 'Naanum Kodeeswaran'.

Slumdog Millionaire- ROCKS AMIDST BLAMES

Though Slumdog Millionaire has attracted International fame, and been nominated for Oscars in many fronts like music, direction, etc., some of the Indian journalists and leading Indian directors and film stars have blamed the movie for showing only the darker and slum regions of Mumbai, hiding off its beauty. Anyways, none seem to be giving ears to such types of movies and have made this movie a huge hit, as the movie is really good and portrayed mumbai as needed by the story.
The movie really rocks and wish it wins many OSCARS..

Hurray!!! India wins the ODI Series against SriLanka

Its time to celebrate...!!!

India has won the One Day International series against SriLanka. Both teams posed strong after consecutive wins in the season. Hence, the Indian tour of SriLanka created huge expectations to see which team makes the better of the other. India did it with ease. Though the SriLankan team posed strong, and it was their home ground, Dhoni's cool captaincy and excellent game play as a team made India win the series 3-0. Dhoni continues to prove as a cool and wise captain of India. The Indian team is in such a great form that, if it continues this, the next World Cup is ours definitely.

Self-Immolations are not the solution to rescue Tamils from the massacre in Sri Lanka. A POLITICAL SOLUTION is needed...

Muthukumar, a tamil youth of 26, commited suicide by self-immolation in protest against the massacre of Tamils in Sri Lanka on 29th January 2009. This guy set fire, not only on himself, but also the emotions and mind of Tamil people making them rise and protest against the Sri Lankan and Indian governments for not bringing the longlasting problem of Tamil Eelam in SriLanka to an end. Following this, a farmer from dindugal district, B. Ravi(40 yrs), allegedly atempted self-immolation to express solidarity with Sri Lankan Tamils, now admitted to Government Hospital. Now, the entire state, (including students, various political parties, actors, etc.,) has jumped into protests for the welfare of Sri Lankan Tamils.

Almost all political leaders in Tamilnadu say that only political solution can bring an end to this problem. But the Lankan government choose only Military solution. The World Super-powers and UNO must act with some reponsibility, atleast humanity, and make Sri Lanka drop its Military force against innocent Tamils and solve the problem politically, and rescue the Sri Lankan Tamil race from extinction.

Slumdog Millionaire soon in TAMIL

Slumdog Millionaire, which has created a sensation around the Globe, has impressed tamil producers to re-make it in Tamil to create a Sure HIT!! This movie will be based on the slums of T.nagar and a famous actor's son is playing the lead role. The Music for this movie will be composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Yuvan is trying and creating different styles in music. Undoubtedly, he is the right music director to compose this movie and match the expectations of audience, as A.R. Rahman has done a great job in its original version. A.R. Rahman has been nominated for 3 Oscars for this movie, which is a matter of pride to all Indians, especially Tamilians.
